Ramea is located on Northwest Island of the Ramea Islands, southeast of Burgeo. It is a common acceptance that the name Ramea is an English version of rameau, meaning branches, and describes the area's many inlets and waterways. A ferry has been transporting people between Burgeo and Ramea since 1968.
