Historic Attractions & Museums - Channel-Port aux Basques

Two historically prosperous communities amalgamated to create Channel-Port aux Basques in 1945. The French, Portuguese and Basques fished from this ice-free port as early as the 1500's. The Reid Company recognized an ideal station for its railway and steamer services linking the island to "Upper Canada" and initiated both in 1898.
