Matthew Legacy Interpretation Centre

Imagine the wind whistling through the sails, seagulls soaring overhead and the gentle roll of a 15th century Caravel. As you look out to sea, you dream of what it must have been like for John Cabot in 1497 as he sailed across the uncharted Atlantic. Come and experience the mystique of the Matthew and its new Interpretation Center in historic downtown Bonavista.

This magnificent full scale replica of John Cabot's Matthew is truly one of this province's premiere tourist attractions. Built by Newfoundland Shipwrights as a legacy to the hardy little ship that brought Cabot and his crew to "the New Founde Land" over 500 years ago. the Matthew is a definite must see on your trip down the Discovery Trail!
