Parks and Campgrounds - Stephenville

Stephenville was originally known as Indian Creek but was renamed by a group of French Acadian settlers in 1844 for a member of their party, Stephen LeBlanc. The community gained in stature during WW ll and the cold war when the United States established the Earnest Harmon Air Base just outside town. Many of the American base buildings still exist today. The town celebrates Harmon Field Day every two years as thousands gather to watch static aircraft displays and the air show put on by pilots of the NATO Countries.
