The Colony Café
|
|
We are in the middle of the very significant and active archeological dig at the Colony of Avalon.
The Colony Café, believe it or not, used to be an old fish plant. During renovations, so many inquiries
were made about a place to eat that we built a café instead.
The idea was to build a simple coffee shop where visitors to the archeological site could enjoy
a coffee and a muffin. Soon, we discovered that the simple coffee shop had to expand. The café was
started in July 1997 with only 28 seats; now the full fledged restaurant has seating for about 60.
Our specialty is seafood. In fact, we are becoming quite famous for it. Visitors from as far
away as Germany have returned to our restaurant. Our fish is always fresh and our service is
always friendly. We like visitors and we treat them royally.
Walk where Lord and Lady Baltimore walked, see what they saw, and eat where they may very well
have eaten. See our murals by Nationally Renown artist Stewart Montgomerie. View as you eat
and learn about the early days of Avalon. See paintings of The Dove and The Ark, ships owned
by the Baltimore family along with beautiful representations of the Lord and Lady themselves.
