The town of Bay Roberts is well known for its industrious
spirit, which has lead the town to successfully
adapt to economic changes. The town council
consistently operates with a surplus.
The highly
supportive volunteer sector in the community has
participated in all types of activities from
maintaining heritage sites to designing and
developing a marina to running various minor
sports leagues.
Bay Roberts is located on Route 70 about 90 km
west of St. Johns. The municipality is made up
of Bay Roberts, Country Road, Coles Point,
Butlerville, and Shearstown.
The town, one of the two largest in the region,
provides major transportation, distribution, and
service to the Avalon Peninsula and surrounding
areas.
The Bay Roberts harbour is one of the largest
and safest in the province. It has a docking
facility with year round operations, which
contributes to the town's economic growth.
The
Veteran's Marina, located in the heart of the
town, is used by many pleasure craft visiting
the area.
