Bishop's Falls - Newfoundland and Labrador

Route 1
Coordinates: 49.0142° N, 55.4937° W

Nestled in the heart of the Exploits Valley, Bishop's Falls is an ideal home base while you explore the scenic Exploits Valley and surrounding coastal communities. Icebergs, whale watching and scenic fishing communities are all within an hour drive of our town.

Some of the best salmon fishing in North America can be experienced on the Exploits River. Our town boasts some of the best fish layout pools on the river, most of which are just a short walk from the Fallsview Municipal Park. With angling this close to your campsite, you can fish for a few hours in the morning or evening and still take a day trip with your family.

Come see Newfoundland's oldest and longest railway trestle which spans the river at the middle of this proud community. The trestle and remnant railway bed are part of the Newfoundland T'Railway (Trans Canada Trail) which crosses the province. A short hike along the T'Railway and you can observe salmon jumping the town's fish ladder. This is also an ideal point to view the Bishop's Falls dam and power station.

A new Heritage Center is being established in the former railway station providing a history of our town and the railway in Newfoundland. And for a true sense of railway life a train is on display outside the station which is always a hit with the kids.

Camping and day-use park services are available at Fallsview Municipal Park. The park offers shower and washroom facilities along with a sheltered picnic gazebo on the upper level. The lower level of the park affords visitors a spectacular view of the Falls and has a gazebo and bandstand which can accommodate major events.
