Daniel's Harbour - Newfoundland and Labrador

Two  Order of Canada recipients lived in this one small Community - Nurse Myra Bennett and well-known fiddle player Rufus Guinchard.

Known as Florence Nightingale of the North, Nurse Bennett was the only health acre professional along 320 kilometres of rugged coastline.

Her former home, Nurse Bennett Heritage House, has many of the tools used by Nurse Bennett to deliver 5000 babies and extract 3000 teeth during her career.

The Late Rufus Guinchard played the fiddle at parties from Sally's Cove to Flowers Cove. His traditional Newfoundland music also entertained audiences in Europe and Japan, but none were more appreciative then the fans back home in Newfoundland.
