Dildo won the Harrowsmith Magazine Award in 2001 as one of the prettiest small towns in Canada. The town has become a popular site for visitors, who can find Bed & Breakfast's, efficiency units, vacation homes and restaurants in the town and in nearby communities. It has a growing marina used for pleasure boats and fishing boats.

The Dildo and Area Interpretation Centre has information about archaeological digs, and artifacts from Maritime Archaic Indians ( dating back to 3000BC ), Dorset Eskimo and Beothuk.

The town's more recent sea heritage is on display as well. There are touch tanks and a heritage fish room, as well as a replica of a giant squid that was caught in the community in 1933.
