Hopeall - Newfoundland and Labrador

Route 500

The challenging Crout's Way Hiking Trail which begins in Makinsons, Conception Bay, ends in Hopeall Trinity Bay. (The trail was built following the path described in the journal of Henry Crout who recorded a way made by colonists in 1612 when they walked overland across the Bay de Verde Peninsula, from Conception Bay to Trinity Bay in an attempt to meet and trade with the Beothuk.)

The Hopeall Equine Sanctuary provides an opportunity to admire the animal that has long been a proud part of Newfoundland's culture and history. Over three centuries, the pony has developed so that it is perfectly suited to the rough Newfoundland environment. The Sanctuary is operated by the Horse and Pony Protection Association of Newfoundland and Labrador, a charitable foundation.
