Long Harbour is an active, growing community located on the Western Avalon
Peninsula. We are approximately 11 kms. from the Trans Canada Highway with a
newly upgraded access road and only one hour's drive from the City of St. John's
on a divided highway.
We are situated only one half hour's drive from the
Argentia Ferry to Nova Scotia. Even though we are a small town with a population
of a little less than 300 residents, we have lots to offer.
Our people are friendly with a unique heritage and a rich culture. Our abundance
of talents and skills has been increased by the many families that were
resettled here from nearby islands in Placentia Bay in the 1960's.
The residents of our Town enjoy a safe, quiet and relaxed way of life. There is
abundance of wildlife in our area and moose, partridge, rabbits and many
varieties of birds can be seen on a regular basis.
Outdoor recreation activities
can be enjoyed depending on the season. For example boating and fishing in
summer along with snowmobiling and ice fishing in winter.
