New Harbour has a long and interesting history. Artifacts have been discovered linking New Harbour to the Dorset Eskimo, Maritime Archaic Indians, and the Beothuk.

At Anderson's Cove artifacts have been found from the Maritime Archaic Indians who lived from 4000 to 5000 years ago.
