Whiteway named for Newfoundland Prime Minister, Sir William Whiteway, is a tiny scenic community in Trinity Bay on Route 80, "The Baccalieu Trail".

Whiteway became incorporated on October 3, 1975 and its Council now consist of seven councillors and a mayor. It has a Town Memorial Centre which houses the recreation centre, fire hall, council office and council chambers. It has an active volunteer recreation committee and fire department. Recreation sponsors Whiteway Days the last week in July annually. This is a fun week for both adults and kids ending with display of excellent talent in a folk festival.

"Shag Rock" is a famous landmark . The large triple-horned rock, jutting sharply out of the water in the middle of the harbour. Many seagulls nest all over this site. Relax at Shag Rock Look Out Site have a picnic and view the rock.

Pitchers Pond Golf Course is a new nine hole very scenic golf course that just recently opened in the community.

Also the community has a large general store, Drovers, where you can buy most anything; Shag Rock Manor a seniors residence with a beautiful view of the ocean; Jackson's Boatyard where some very large boats have been built; Maple Ridge Art Studio with a wide variety of original Newfoundland crafts, gifts, and souvenirs including the largest selection of tole painting on the Avalon Peninsula; Brown's Restaurant & Take Out voted #1 restaurant on the Baccalieu Trail.
