Winterton, once known as Scilly Cove, has
headstones dating back to the 1700s. The name
was changed to Winterton in 1912 to honour a
former Newfoundland Prime Minister, Sir James S.
Winter.
The Winterton Boat Building Museum celebrates the
skill and ingenuity of Winterton's builders.
The facility has full-size boats, constructed
and used in the town, plus all the tools
employed to build and sail them.
