Historic
Attractions & Museums - Lewisporte
|
| In the late 1800's, European settlers were
attracted to the area and developed a diverse economy of shipbuilding,
fishing, logging and farming. Lewisporte received its name from an
enterprising Scotsman by the name of Lewis Miller, who established
sawmills in Central Newfoundland and used Lewisporte for its shipping
yard. |
