The Town of New-Wes-Valley, located 90 kms from the Gambo overpass on the Trans
Canada Highway. Route 320, the ‘Road to the Shore’, will direct you to our
beautiful town.
New-Wes-Valley was incorporated in 1992 when the communities of Valleyfield,
Badger’s Quay, Pool’s Island, Brookfield, Wesleyville, Pound Cove, Templeman, &
Newtown amalgamated. Our current population stands at approximately 2900.
Our main industry is derived from the fishery, with Beothic Fish Processors Ltd.
providing employment for approximately 40% of the towns residents. Make an
appointment and take a tour of one of the most modern production facilities in
Atlantic Canada.
While visiting our town, enjoy our scenic beauty, rugged coast lines,
ice bergs,
whales, berry picking grounds, walking trails, and much, much more.
During the tourism season, you will surely find something to attract your
attention and give you a real sense of the tradition of our town. We invite you
to visit the renown
Barbour Living Heritage Village with Dinner Theatre, the
Bonavista North Regional Museum, the old style churches, fishing stages, and
many other sites the town has to offer.
In July, take part in our ‘Annual Crab Festival’, a week filled with fabulous
food and entertainment. Enjoy the Miss Teen New-Wes-Valley Pageant, the
hilarious Mrs. New-Wes-Valley Competition, Bingo, Dancing, Local Entertainment,
Boat Races, Carnival Day, Traditional Home Cooked Meals and the list goes on!
You will find accommodations in our town very relaxing, with the management and
staff providing you with great hospitality and service.
We invite you to visit our town and share in our heritage. We are confident that
you will return home with fond and loving memories of our area and our
residents, with plans to return again.
